Formal Elements Y1

Formal Elements Y1

For our first project i was asked to look at an artist names Robert Raushenburg, he is an expressive artists and uses a lot of colour, i began to experiment with the resources available within my 4 disciplines. I learned how to use different techniques in different area's, these are some images of what i came up with.
This is a screen print from textiles which i had created by layering up. I began with one screen and pulled through yellow ink, i then layered up the patterned screen with a different colour to show experimentation. I then hand stitched some detail into the sample using more hand stitching techniques and different colours. I like this sample as it is simple techniques however they are effective as i shows the details and bring more colour, showing a link to the given artist.

This is my experimentation of wax and dyes. First i bag with spraying calico with many different coloured dyes almost a tie dye effect. I then applied wax on top using waxing tools. I like this piece as i like the texture of the wax and how the colours still show bright with wax on as my initial thought what it would dull the colour.

My graphic designs where inspired by basic letters of the alphabet and the word creative. I used a variety of media's such as water paint, coloured fine writers, acrylic paint and coloured pencils. I have overlapped letters, used patterns within the letters and cut sections away, i've also used different fonts and colours. I have exaggerated the D in the second design.

These are more textile samples that i have used different techniques including hand stitching, dying, wax, embroidery foot on the sewing machine as using the straight foot and trapping wool underneath by stitching a zigzag stitch.
